Kwara APC In Fresh War Over Bolarinwa’s Suspension

Hon Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa the caretaker Committee chairman of the Kwara state All Progressives Congress(APC),  has been suspended.

He was suspended during the State Executive Committee meeting held at Kwara Hotel on Thursday November 5, 2020.

His suspension followed allegations of anti-party activities, lack of accountability and mismanagement of funds and promotion of indiscipline in the party.

Meanwhile, Bolarinwa’s media aide, Ayo Abegunde, had dismissed his principal’s suspension, describing it as unfounded.

The motion for suspension was raised by a leader of the party from Kwara South, Rev. Abel Adewumi and was seconded by the Secretary of the party from Kiama, Alhaji Musa Baba Mohammed.

Rev Adewumi stressed that the allegations levied against the embattled chairman, is in contravention of the APC Constitution (2014)as amended, in Article 21 (i-viii) which says among others that, ‘anti-party activities or any conduct, which is likely to embarrass or have adverse effect on the party or bring the party into hatred, contempt, ridicule or disrepute.

“You will recall that in 2018 he was picked as the caretaker chairman of the party when Dr. Bukola Saraki defected to the PDP. Unfortunately, he has being operating since then more or less like a sole administrator.

“Several efforts have been invested towards solving the crisis but it yielded no result as he was bent on sidelining other executive members of the party,” the party stated in a statement issued shortly after the SEC meeting.

The decision to suspend the embattled chairman was taken to ensure that he does not superintend over the upcoming registration of party members in the state to avoid factionalising the party.

The party reconvened immediately after factional members led by the suspended chairman, Omolaja, had walked out of the meeting, after their bid to disrupt the meeting became futile.

Abegunde noted that:
“Nothing can be farther from the truth than this misleading concoction of fairy tales from moonlight”, Abegunde said in a statement.

It further quoted that “There was no gathering of proper persons who have the power and rights to undertake such a venture, so any allusion to his removal can be nothing but a figment of the imagination of these finger happy news mongers”.

“Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa remains the authentic and undisputable chairman of the APC in Kwara State and will remain so untill his constitutional tenure ends”.
